The Best Computer Repair Shops in Adelaide

Seven Adelaide computer repair shops and technicians for laptops, desktops and Macs, spread from Brighton and St Clair to Mawson Lakes, Holden Hill and the CBD. Every one holds at least 4.5 stars on Google from 40 or more reviews and repairs computers as its main work. Phone-only repairers and big-box retailers are left out.

When a laptop dies, the first worry is rarely the repair bill. It is the photos and documents on the drive. So before you pick a shop, back up what you can and ask whoever takes the machine what happens to your files if the repair goes wrong. A decent technician will answer that plainly. If a shop dodges it, move on.

Adelaide repairers work in three ways and the right one depends on the fault. Workshops suit hardware problems that need bench time. IT-Solve in Holden Hill takes appointments only, with drop-off points around the city. Cherry Computers in Brighton and EZYPC on Sturt Street in the CBD welcome walk-ins. Pickup services suit people who cannot easily travel. Adelaide PC Repairs collects and returns devices across Adelaide at no extra cost and CK Computers does the same through its ClickFix Collect service. Home visits suit a tangle of cables or a network problem. Steve's PC Repairs works at homes in the western suburbs.

Few shops publish prices, because the cost depends on the fault and the part. Two do. CK Computers lists $149 in-store, $199 on-site and $99 remote, all including GST. Steve's PC Repairs charges $130 for the first hour and $55 for each extra half hour. Others quote after looking at the machine and IT-Solve charges a diagnostic fee first, so ask whether that fee comes off the bill if you go ahead. Warranties differ too. Adelaide PC Repairs gives 90 days on hardware repairs, IT-Solve gives three months and Cherry Computers offers 30 days on a range of repairs.

To make the list, a business needed a Google rating of 4.5 stars or higher from at least 40 reviews, checked on 10 October 2026. It also needed its own website showing computer, laptop or Mac repair as core work rather than phones and no national franchise or big-box chain behind it. A business with two Google listings appears once. Prices appear only where the business publishes them on its own site. The seven shops are below, from Brighton and St Clair across to Mawson Lakes and the CBD.

Back up first and read the repair notice

Under the Australian Consumer Law a repairer that takes in a device able to store your files must give you a notice, before accepting it, saying the repair may result in the loss of that data. If the repairer may use refurbished parts or swap your device for a refurbished one, it must also tell you so in set wording. These notices are standard paperwork, not a sign of a bad shop.

Take the warning seriously. Copy your photos, documents and email to an external drive or cloud account before you drop the machine off. Write down any passwords the technician will need to test it. If the computer will not start at all, say so at booking and ask whether data recovery is a separate job with a separate price.

How Adelaide repairers charge

Few shops publish full price lists because the cost depends on the fault and the part. Of the shops here, CK Computers lists an in-store service at $149, an on-site service at $199 and a remote session at $99, all including GST. Steve's PC Repairs charges $130 for the first hour and $55 for each extra half hour, with a seniors rate of $120 for the first hour.

Others work on a quote. Cherry Computers charges flat rates for in-store work rather than by the hour, Adelaide PC Repairs gives a firm quote before work starts and IT-Solve charges a diagnostic fee before quoting. Ask up front whether the diagnostic fee comes off the repair bill if you go ahead. Get the quote in writing before you approve any parts.

Check the warranty on the repair

Repair warranties vary a lot between shops. Adelaide PC Repairs covers hardware repairs for 90 days on parts and labour and software fixes for 7 days. IT-Solve gives 3 months on repairs and Cherry Computers offers a 30-day warranty on a range of its repairs and servicing.

Ask what the warranty covers before you pay. A new screen or battery is easy to retest, but a software clean-up can be undone by the next dodgy download. Keep the invoice, because you will need it to make a warranty claim.

Workshop, pickup or someone at your door

Adelaide has all three. Adelaide PC Repairs and CK Computers will collect a computer from your home or business and bring it back once fixed. IT-Solve runs drop-off points and secure lockers in several suburbs as well as its Holden Hill workshop. Steve's PC Repairs does most of its work at customers' homes in the western suburbs.

On-site work suits a desktop with a lot of cables or a printer and network problem you cannot carry in. A workshop suits hardware faults that need parts and bench time. Several of these businesses work by appointment only, so call or book online before you turn up.

Frequently asked

How much does computer repair cost in Adelaide?

It depends on the fault and the parts. Two shops on this list publish prices: CK Computers lists $149 for an in-store service, $199 on site and $99 for a remote session. Steve's PC Repairs charges $130 for the first hour then $55 per extra half hour. All of these prices include GST. Most others quote after a diagnosis.

Will I lose my files when my computer is repaired?

You might. The Australian Consumer Law requires a repairer to warn you, before accepting the device, that repairing goods able to store user data may result in that data being lost. Back up everything you care about before you hand the computer over.

Is my old computer worth fixing?

Ask the shop before paying for a diagnosis. Cherry Computers, for example, says it does not repair or upgrade devices it considers vintage (around 12 years old or more) and checks that the operating system still gets security updates, because an unsupported machine is not safe to use online.

Can a technician come to my house?

Yes. Steve's PC Repairs works at customers' homes, CK Computers and Adelaide PC Repairs offer on-site visits as well as pickup and Cherry Computers lists on-site services. On-site rates are usually higher than bringing the computer in, so compare both.
