The Best Pest Control in Adelaide

Seven Adelaide pest controllers for termites, spiders, rodents and general household pests. Every pick holds a Google rating of 4.7 or better across more than 100 reviews and runs as a local business rather than a national call centre. We note each warranty and published licence number exactly as the business states it.

Pest control usually gets booked in a hurry, after a spider in the bedroom or termite damage someone has just spotted. Either way you are about to let a stranger put pesticide in or around your home, so it is worth a few minutes to check who they are before the van pulls up.

The seven businesses here are based around Adelaide. Allstate Pest Control is at North Plympton and EcoPest Group is at Welland. OzPest Adelaide is at Elizabeth, Pest-SA is at Salisbury Downs and House Care Pest Control is at St Agnes. BioPest Australia is at Glenelg South and Protec Pest Control works across the metro area. Several of them publish licence details on their own sites. Each entry notes what the business states.

SA Health sets out what to look for. Any business offering pest control for payment in South Australia must hold a Pest Controller's licence. The person doing the work must hold a Pest Management Technician's licence. Licences carry endorsements for particular types of pest work. A full technician has a photo ID card with those endorsements on the back. SA Health says to ask to see it. For termite work, ask whether the technician's endorsement covers that job.

To make this list, each business needed a Google rating of 4.7 or higher from at least 100 reviews on 10 October 2026, its own website and a local base. I left out national franchises that route bookings through a central number. No business paid to appear. Warranties differ a lot between treatments, so read the paperwork before you pay.

The seven are below, with a guide to termites, warranties and treatments around pets underneath.

Check the licence first

In South Australia pest control is licensed by SA Health under the Controlled Substances (Pesticides) Regulations 2017. A business doing pest control work needs a pest controller's licence. Each technician who applies pesticides needs a pest management technician's licence. A limited technician can only work under the supervision of a fully licensed one. Full technicians are issued a photo ID card.

Licences also carry endorsements that set out what kinds of pest control work the holder may do. SA Health says it is an offence to do work the licence is not endorsed for. So for termite work, ask whether the technician's licence is endorsed for termites, not just whether they are licensed. Several of the picks here publish a licence number or licence document on their website, which makes that conversation easy.

Termite inspections and treatment

Termite work in SA has to follow Australian Standards. The pesticide regulations require pest controllers and technicians to comply with AS 3660.1 for new building work and AS 3660.2 for termite management in and around existing buildings. Ask any company quoting a termite barrier or baiting system to confirm the work meets AS 3660.2 and to put that on the paperwork.

If you are buying a house, a timber pest inspection is a different job. AS 4349.3, published by Standards Australia, sets the minimum requirements for a non-invasive timber pest inspection and the report that goes with it. Ask whether the inspection and report follow AS 4349.3, what areas will be inspected and what the report will cover if the roof space or subfloor cannot be reached.

Warranties are not all the same

Pest control warranties range from a few months to several years. The length depends on the pest and the product. OzPest Adelaide offers an 8-year, $2 million warranty on Termidor termite treatments and a 6-month warranty on spiders, cockroaches, ants and millipedes. Allstate Pest Control offers up to a year of free spot treatments if a termite problem returns. EcoPest Group runs a fixed or free guarantee on its services.

Get the warranty in writing and read what keeps it valid. Ask whether a termite warranty depends on regular inspections, whether building work or garden beds against the house could void it and what a callback costs if pests come back after the warranty ends.

Re-entry, pets and children

How long you need to stay out after a treatment depends on the product and where it is applied. The instructions are on the product label. Ask the technician which product they will use and what its label says about re-entry, contact with treated surfaces and pets. For most general treatments OzPest Adelaide says you can stay home, with fumigation the exception.

If you have children, pets or fish tanks, say so when you book. Some operators avoid indoor spraying altogether. House Care Pest Control treats the outside perimeter rather than spraying inside the house. Ask for the product name so you can look up its safety data sheet yourself.

Frequently asked

Do pest controllers need a licence in South Australia?

Yes. Under the Controlled Substances (Pesticides) Regulations 2017, a pest control business needs a pest controller's licence from SA Health and each technician needs a pest management technician's licence. Licences are endorsed for particular kinds of work, so ask whether your technician is endorsed for the job, such as termites.

What Australian Standard covers termite treatments?

AS 3660. South Australia's pesticide regulations require pest controllers to comply with AS 3660.1 for new building work and AS 3660.2 for existing buildings. Pre-purchase timber pest inspections are covered by a separate standard, AS 4349.3.

How long do pest control warranties last?

It depends on the pest and product. Among the picks here, warranties range from six months on general pests to 8 years on a specific termite treatment. Always get the terms in writing and ask what you need to do to keep the warranty valid.

Is pest control safe for pets and children?

Ask before booking. Re-entry times and pet precautions are set by each product's label, so ask the technician which product they will use and what the label says. Some Adelaide operators treat only the outside perimeter or use baits designed to reduce risk to pets and wildlife.

How much does pest control cost in Adelaide?

Few pest controllers publish prices. Protec Pest Control lists same-day pest control from $119. House Care Pest Control charges $150 to $250 for a 12-point inspection, which it says is waivable. Most others quote after an inspection.
